Pics of Bleu in the Saturn

I couldn't find these the other day when I was talking about Bleu hating the Saturn but here are two that show how big he was compared to the small back seat.

Tucker's first trip to the park

We took Tucker to Riverside on Monday and he struggled with the whole leash thing.

We ran into Bobby who used to be our neighbor at the rent house. He was upset to hear about Bleu because Bobby's dog Bear and Bleu used to get into their share of trouble together(That's a lot of B's in one sentence).

Hi! I'm Tucker!

Tucker is the new puppy we picked up this past weekend from my cousin Julie. Bleu would definitely like him because he likes to play but he's still trying to get Lola to warm up to him.

He seems to be amused by himself.

And to this point seems to amuse kids, like my cousin Allison's little girl Weslyn.

And the weekend was good, got to see the family and get some QT with MeMe, my aunts, cousins, etc. The main reason aside from Tucker for the visit was my Niece, Stephanie graduated from high school, so yes I am officially old.

Also went fishing on Saturday and did pretty well if I do say so myself.

At least I did better than my Dad.

The drive back to Tulsa on Sunday was pretty miserable because it rained the whole way. We took the Saturn which was impossible to do with Bleu because he was just too big to fit back there and could never get comfortable. That reminds me of a trip we took to see Rachel's family in Kentucky with Bleu and Lola in the Saturn, awful. We did stop and get them a frosty to make them happy. Bleu was kind enough to clean Lola's face after she spilled a little on her chin. That was the last time Bleu ever took a trip in the little car.

Firsts

I've been missing Bleu pretty bad again this week, mainly because everything is a first now. The first time I do something or want to do something without Bleu. Its not the best way to look at things but its how I've been seeing it. I had Bleu for 6 years and he witnessed more overhauls, changes and re-directing of my life first-hand than anyone else in my life. Bleu was there when I graduated college, when I decided to move to Tulsa, when I decided to move back to Tulsa, when I decided to get married and when we bought our first house. Bleu was the one constant, always right by my side with an excited look, wagging tail and tongue bath. I can't help but miss him looking up at me with a smile.

Now we're having a BIG first without Bleu, we're getting a puppy. After talking about it we decided it would be best for Lola and us, and that it had been enough time for Lola. We went back and forth on adopting a rescue setter, but I just couldn't handle looking outside and seeing another grown Setter outside, it would be like plugging in a substitution and there is no substitute for Bleu. We couldn't get one of the litter that was recently born here in Tulsa, because the were all previously claimed. So we came across one that needed a home and was some what convenient and we are picking him up this weekend. I know that it might be difficult at first, but I'm sure its what we should do. We love you Bleu.

Taking it up a Notch!

So Lola and I got up a 6 am yesterday morning and went jogging! We probably jogged anywhere from 1/2-3/4 of a mile, she did some rolling on the floor for about 20 minutes, watched me mow the yard and then topped it off with another 2 mile walk with Bailey and Nala at Riverside! Bleu would've loved a day like that. There is no stopping her now! She's getting bathed and her hair did this afternoon. Good times.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Last night was too much fun watching Boston lose all those games. I hate Boston! They should be left for losers the next 100 years.

Bleu's Name Spelled Right!

We got the name corrected for Bleu yesterday , FINALLY! It took them a freaking week! But now I feel like we've got him settled a little more. Most of the time we keep him up front where he spent most of his down time watching over the street.

Bark in the Park

So we decided to go because it was sunny outside and then by the 3rd inning it was overcast and about 15 degrees cooler than when we got there. But we did get some good pictures! We went with Dave, Blaze, Bailey and Nala.
Nala liked the aluminum bleachers. Bleu definitely would have had a good time kicking it with this dude!
Here's a couple of other dogs we hung out with at the game.

Lola got to meet a bunch of new dogs and sniff the pee stains on everything. She also had a hot dog which was her highlight of the game. All in all it was a good Bark in the Park. Bleu would have had a rowdy time.

Routine

Lola is still keeping up the walking, although waiting until after Rachel gets home is making the afternoons a little boring. She's getting used to the new routines, but the one where she sleeps on the bed every night, all night will be one that will be hard to stop. We went to bark in the park on Saturday and had a blast. Having problems getting the pictures on the computer, but as soon as we do will post them. I do however have a couple of pictures that I can't help but post.

This is a litter that was born on 3/20/09. There will never be a replacement for Bleu, but they are awfully tempting. They have assigned them by colored shoestrings and guess what color they have. Blue. We are monitoring the situation.

Suggestions?

So we decided to plant a tree for Bleu, he enjoyed peeing on them among other things, only we went to a nursery on Sunday and couldn't choose just one. By the way the Southwood Nursery on S. Lewis is a great place to go walk around for a couple of hours on the weekend. They have every type of plant you could imagine, surprisingly decent music playing throughout and tricycles on steroids. I mean they're tricycles but with big off-road type wheels and the kids ride around on them worrying parents and almost running over anyone in the way, pretty comical. Anyway we thought we would walk in, pick a dogwood and figure the rest out later, but we came across some other options.

Red Dogwood

Maybe a Blueberry Bush? (not as appealing to the eyes, but we might just get one anyway and see what happens with it)

A Blue Skies Lilac?

Or a Crape Myrtle Red Rocket, that's really the name and a pretty good description of Bleu.

Bleu would've been proud

Momma's Boy

Bleu was such a Momma's Boy. She could do no wrong in his book. To him, I think I was sort of Dad, Brother, Best Friend, but Rachel was something completely different. If she left the room he was right behind her. If I left the room he would stay right beside her and just keep an eye out for me to come back.

Bleu and Lola used to have a problem for getting in the trash when left inside. We only left them in if it was raining or too cold and every time they got into it. There's no doubt that Lola was the puppet master pulling his strings. But how could he say no to Lola? If Rachel and I came in at the same time there was an obvious plan, get as far away from me as possible and get behind Rachel, she would protect him. He would always seek her out when he had done something wrong and knew I was coming for him. Lola on the other hand would just walk right up to me and act like she had done nothing wrong. She usually got away with it too because Lola is the ultimate Daddy's girl.

Tomorrow is Bark in the Park

We were so excited for it this year. Last year they had so much fun going and climbing all over the bleachers, picking fights with other dogs, peeing everywhere and eating a couple of driller dogs. Good times.

They handed out gift bags for all the dogs that came and Bleu and Lola wore the bandannas for a couple of months.

Repeat performance

Another 2 miles for the lil bear today! She is getting ready for swimsuit weather. Bleu must be so jealous.

Today

Lola and I walked 2 miles today at Riverside Park. We went from 31st to 21st and back again. Lola was more than eager for about 1.25 miles and then started to fade but she toughed it out. She pooped 3 times. I only took one bag. So I scooped the first on, but looked like a jerk the next two times. Oh well. The sun came out this afternoon for the first time in 11 days so we had to take advantage. Bleu used to love Riverside although the geese did not like him. The one thing Lola hasn't gotten used to is that Bleu isn't there to back her up when she starts barking at bigger dogs. Not that Bleu would have been much help against a 60 lb Pitt bull mix, but he would've barked with her. We got back to the truck and she couldn't even get her front two legs up and insisted I pick her up and put her right in front of the air conditioner vents. All in all, it was a good time. I used to take her and Bleu to Zinc park every time I had an off day while working at Buffalo and they enjoyed pulling me around. I took him to parks regularly but I wish I would have taken him more. I have no doubt that we would have gone at least 3 miles.

Cinco De Mayo!

Bleu enjoyed the celebration of our neighbors' heritage and pride to the south, but he slightly preferred St. Patrick's Day.

Puppy Parties

Bleu loved some puppy parties.

We had one a couple of weeks ago with Bailey

and Nala.Their parents are Dave

and Blaze pictured on the left of Rachel at their prom?

Rachel and Blaze made some homemade dog treats(I know, I know) that they seemed to enjoy.

Lola got dressed up for the occasion.

So they locked the 4 of them in my 'Headquarters' downstairs, while Dave and I attended to important matters, and hid the treats around the house for them to find. It took them a minute to figure out what was going on, but once they did there was canine carnage for a good half hour until all the gems had been discovered.

It got so exciting that at one point Nala mistook Lola's attire for a buddy.

Then they realized that there were more atop the stove and they all were very polite in asking for more.

Except for Lola, of course, she just looked at me and expected for one to be given to her first.

It ended with Bleu and Lola passing out because they had been raised like heathens and ate whatever was available. Nala and Bailey however suffered through some extreme bowel discomfort since they are used to a balanced diet. Good times were had by all.

Lola even gave Bleu bunny ears in one of the pictures. Ha! She got him good.
