Picks for College Football Week #1
Bleu Picks:
North Carolina State @ South Carolina
The Cocks look to let their Defense carry the load this year and with a new D Coordinator Ellis Johnson they should be solid. NCSU 14 - USC 27
Under 45 for $50
Wake Forest @ Baylor
The Bears have a new coach in Art Briles. He will get them to come out fired up but fall short to Wake in a late, but close finish. WFU 31 - BU 24
Baylor +12 for $25
Western Michigan @ Nebraska
Again a new coach and again a fired up squad and more importantly a VERY fired up crowd ringing in the Bo Pelini era. Bleu gives it a 4 Paw pick! WMU 17 - NU 49
Nebraska -14.5 for $100
Alabama @ Clemson
This could go either way with the expectations and the excitement at Clemson, they expect to win and win big this year. In the past we've seen this and heard this and it always ends up the same old song. The young, inexperienced, well-coached Crimson Tide wins a squeaker and gets a boost in the polls, while deflating the optimism in Death Valley. UA 30- Clemson 28
Alabama +4.5 for $25
There we go the start a new season with some Thursday night games and plenty of time to get back to even through the weekend.

Season Preview
First of all we will tackle some simple pre-season predictions.
Easy Ones:
Pac Ten – USC (I mean really? Who else)
Big East – West Virginia (Seem to be the best team top to bottom)
Big Ten – Ohio State (I mean really? Who else)
Big XII:
North – Missouri
South – Oklahoma ( TTech is good but wont beat the Sooners this year)
Not so easy ones:
ACC
Coastal- North Carolina (Little bit of a surprise)
Look at the schedule and you’ll find that if Butch Davis can get his kids paying hard they will be able to walk through the end of the season. They go to Rutgers on 9/13 and if they lose that it doesn’t matter in the conference and may wake them up. After that, Va Tech comes in and that should be a test but I think they can surprise a team that still isn’t sure about their QB at that point. If they win that they will have confidence going into a game at the U (Miami if you have no idea what we are talking about). That is the BIG game as far as I’m concerned. If they get by that, UCONN at home and on the road to UVA. Then the national attention will turn to them when they get Notre Dame at home and should be able to win. Then its up to them keeping it up after getting interviewed by Rece Davis and the get a home game against a Matt Ryan-less BC and then end the season with G Tech, Maryland, North Carolina State and Duke.
Atlantic – Clemson
I really like Wake Forest this year, but Clemson seems to be better. I hate the little Bowden and Jim Grobe is the much better coach, but talent should be the determining factor here. Miami is still shaky and Randy has another season to go before they get back to true form.
ACC Championship – Give me North Carolina in a “Bowden Choke Job.”
SEC:
East – Georgia
They have a brutal schedule and have lost some key pieces, but I think Matt Stafford is the real deal and can lead them to the BIG W against Florida. They lose at LSU and win the rest. I’m getting a little crazy here but: I think Tennessee beats Florida, loses to Kentucky (ending an almost 3 decade winning streak, fluke but lets say it happens), Florida loses to Tennessee, UGA and a late season upset loss to FSU ( For no real reason).
West – Auburn
Their schedule is very nice for them this year. Their only loss will be to UGA at home late in the year and will kill their momentum, but they should beat everyone else. I now their QB situation is questionable, but that OL is the best IMO in the conference and will make up for any troubles they may have early.
SEC Championship – UGA
BIG PICK:
NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP
USC vs Oklahoma
They both go undefeated and end up beating out the SEC champ because of that, but they might be the best 2 TEAMS there are. I don’t expect a score like the last championship they played against each other, but I do expect USC to win. Give me USC 38 – Oklahoma 24.
So USC get the Championship!
But GO HOGS!

Next Week is Gameday!
My Fantasy baseball team is in dire straits at this point. My once seemingly untouchable pitching staff has completely imploded including the signing of Jason Marquis specifically for today's start against the miserable Nats and well, he sucked! I was really looking good only 7 days ago and pushing for the top spot again, but this past week has been an undescribable disaster.
I will be the first to say, "When will the Olympics end?" I know everyone enjoys the games, but really? After this weekend how many of them will anyone be able to name beside Phelps? Just End It!
Quick recap of the week via "Cheers" and "F-Offs"
F-Offs.
* Still working with idiots
*Olympic boredom
*Sports page at the Tulsa World (awful, just awful)
*Boom Goes the Dynamite Guy got a job in sports! (its with a local station in Waco, but still)
*Cubs 2-2 so far this week
Cheers.
*Only 1 more week until NCAA Football starts
*My Wife just went to Victoria's Secret
*Beer

Couple of Things.
The season tickets to Razorback football arrived, bad seats, good times.
We get a cupcake to start the season in Fayettenam, then go to the Rock for another. Then we go through a murderer's row of games going to Texass, home against Bama and Florida, then go to the Plains to meet up with Auburn. Good thing its supposed to be a down year or I'd be pissed about going 2-4 to start the season.
Practice started this week and few surprises to begin fall camp. Wright and Wright, Jarius (#4), out of Warren, AR, a fresman who was expected to redshirt has impressed the staff early and could press for playing time, as well as Tenarius (#43) also a freshman, from Memphis, TN, expected to get a look, but may actually be stating come gameday, especially with the recent arrests coming from the linebacking core.
Plus new uniforms for the Hogs this year:
A little bright for my taste, as well as the white stripes are questionable. But they dont seem to bother Malcolm Sheppard who may or may not of just eaten a freshman. He gets my vote for "Most likely to kill Tim Tebow."
Hey Chicago, What do you say?
The Cubs are still winning! They took two of three from the Astros and in my opinion got robbed in the first game because the umps decided to call the game due to a little lightning while they were down 0-2 in the eighth. Lance Berkman ran off the field, like a girl, and later we found out 'why he wanted his nickname changed from 'Fat Elvis' to the 'Big Puma.' Because he can't hold the King's jock!
So the Cubbies are 5 games ahead of the Who Crew in the Central with the St. Louis Fardinals coming to Wrigley the weekend.
The Knights of NEE!
I television commentary I would like to talk about Baseball Tonight. God's gift to TV and quite possibly the #3 reason for procrastination that I can think of at this moment. Someone told me the other day that the hated Steve Philips! Are you serious? In my opinion he's money. Come to find out the individual was a Yankee fan adn didn't like him because he said they were done back in May. As it turns out, maybe Steve was right.
Honestly, Baseball Tonight puts all other sports shows to shame. Give me Steve, Kruk, Buster, Timmy K., Peter Gammons, Karl Ravech and Harold Reynolds and I'll give you the best thing ever put on the air.
My wife and I agree that Eric Young is dreadful and we can't stand to hear his voice. But she had the gall to say that, "he is as bad as the fatty mullet guy." Fatty Mullet Guy?!?! John Kruk!?!? How do you not like Krukie!? He's dumb, funny and a real guy, he's great! So, we will have to agree to disagree on that!
Happy 30th Birthday, Marisa Miller
